Morningside swept at Mount Marty
YANKTON, S.D. – Morningside crossed paths for the second time with the Lancers of Mount Marty tonight, this time, with a conference win on the line, with results that were less favorable than first. Playing the role of the visitors, the Mustangs fell in straight sets, 25-16, 25-21, and 25-22.

The Mustangs were plagued by errors in the night's match, seeing their hitting percentage drop to .109 on the night, and falling just short of a season high 9 service errors for a three-set match, with eight. Morningside tallied 32 kills on the night, trailing Mount Marty's 42. The Lancers also bested the Mustangs in the digs column, tallying an even dozen more than Morningside, 54-42.
Morningside's offense was led by Meredith Hoffman and Sydney Marlow, recording 10 kills each, in 25 and 28 attempts, respectively. Marlow hit .286 in the match, while Hoffman followed at .240. Sabrina Creason led the team in assists, with 14, while the second half of the setting corps for the match, Bridget Smith, recorded 12.
The Mustangs' defensive front recorded six total blocks, with 10 block assists and a single solo block. Freshman Emma Schall accounted for the solo block and three block assists, leading the team with four total. Hoffman followed with three total blocks, while Claire Wilson had two.
Behind the front line, Payton Shoquist assumed her usual spot atop the ranks in digs, recording 12, for an average of 4.0 per set. Smith followed with eight of her own.
Morningside is back in action on the road, visiting College of Saint Mary for a 3:30 p.m. JV contest, followed by varsity, scheduled for 5 p.m.
