PARKVILLE, Mo. — The Morningside University men's volleyball team dropped a three-set match Friday to Park, 3-0.
The Pirates won by set scores of 25-17, 27-25, and 25-18. The second set was a back-and-forth affair, as the Mustangs and Pirates were tied 25-25 before the Pirates scored two straight to claim it. After trailing early in the third set, Morningside fought back to tie it at 9-9, led by kills from Jacob DePauw and Mohamed Benkrid. Park took the lead, however, at 11-10, and never gave it back up.
Natan Alves led the Mustangs with seven kills, followed by six from Donte Jennings. Jacob DePauw had a team-high 15 assists.
Owen Anderson led the defense with five digs. Morningside had six total blocks, including solos from Benkrid and Ian Smith.
