Eleven Mustangs collect wins as part of BVU sweep

STORM LAKE, IOWA – Eleven Mustangs were part of varsity wins as Morningside traveled to Buena Vista University and blanked the Beavers 9-0.

The ball started bouncing the Mustangs' way as Winyou Asavaruangchai and Abhishek Mohapatra recorded an 8-3 win at no. 2 doubles. Santiago Minetti and Skander Ben Abdallah followed, 8-1, at no. 1 doubles, and Mikhil Raja and Alexander Castillo won no. 3 doubles 8-3.

Eduard Cardelus was first in the book at no. 4 singles, keeping his opponent off the board, 6-0, 6-0. Mark Trenkle followed, 6-1, 6-1 at no. 1 singles, and Gustav Sjoberg sealed the win at no. 2 singles with scores of 6-2, 6-0.

Raja, the only Mustang to play both singles and doubles today, added a 6-0, 6-1 win at no. 3 singles, while Joao Pedro Pierry Izoldi Costa added another 6-0, 6-0 win at no. 5, and Christian Kelly concluded the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win.

Morningside travels to Hastings on Saturday, resuming Great Plains Athletic Conference play at noon.
