SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Morningside women's volleyball team continued its strong late-season push Wednesday night, sweeping Briar Cliff 25-19, 25-16, 25-23.
The Mustangs hit .173 as a team and used a balanced attack to earn their fourth straight victory. Payten Lode led the way with 13 kills, 15 digs, and an ace, while Victoria Bouska was efficient at the net with 12 kills on .500 hitting and a solo block.
Malia Fichtl added eight kills, and Emma Haren contributed seven kills and seven digs. Setter Kyla Dyrstad dished out 37 assists and collected 16 digs, and libero Aubrey Sandbothe tallied 14 digs.
After a close opening frame, Morningside took control in the second set with a 7-1 run fueled by kills from Bouska and Fichtl. In the third, the Mustangs overcame an early deficit as Haren, Lode, and Bouska combined for seven of the team's final nine kills to close out the sweep.
