Mustangs stack Top 5 finishes at Wayne State Classic

Courtney Sporrer headlined the meet with a pair of victories, winning the mile in 4:56.00 before returning to claim the 5,000-meter title in 18:41.35. The senior controlled both races and showcased her range across distances in leading the Mustangs.
Morningside also placed two runners on the podium in the mile, as Madison Sporrer finished second in 4:59.25 to give the Mustangs a 1-2 finish in the event.
The Mustangs' depth was on full display in the 5,000 meters, where four runners placed in the Top 5. Gabby Ryan finished third in 19:21.18, followed by Madison Sporrer in fourth (19:29.59) and London Rogge in fifth (19:49.87), giving Morningside a strong presence in the distance field.
Outside of distance events, Kylin Smith added a third-place finish in the 400 meters in 1:01.80.
The Mustangs also turned in a strong effort in the 4x400-meter relay, where the team of Smith, Morgan Sachs, Ava Lang and Jolee Mesz placed third in 4:09.47. The group maintained steady positioning throughout the race and delivered a consistent finish over the final leg, adding to Morningside's point total while showcasing depth beyond the distance events.
Kinsey Alt rounded out the Top 5 finishes with a fifth-place mark in the long jump at 5.27 meters (17-3.5).
