Sporrer medals to lead Mustangs at the GPAC Indoor Championships
MITCHELL, S.D. – Courtney Sporrer came to compete at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, placing first and seventh in two events.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Courtney Sporrer came to compete at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, placing first and seventh in two events.
Sporrer took first place in the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:20.25. Jolee Mesz was less than a second behind in second place with a time of 2:21.00. Sporrer also placed seventh in the 3,000-meter run at 10:55.18.
Mesz, Morgan Sachs, Sydney Brouwer, and Lauren Wehrbein ran together and took sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:12.38.
Sporrer and Mesz each earned all-conference recognition for their races. Sporrer in both the 800-meter run and the 3,000-meter run and Mesz in the 800 meters.
Morningside's national qualifiers continue to prepare for the 2025 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championship, which begins Feb. 27, while the rest of the team looks forward to the opening of the outdoor season on March 28 at the Central Methodist Invite in Fayette, Mo.
