Mustangs Post 7-0 GPAC Record En Route to Conference Title
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. – It would take a win for Morningside Women’s Tennis today to clinch sole possession of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship title, as Midland was looking to give the Mustangs their first loss of the GPAC season. Morningside got its win, as the upset-minded Warriors fell 7-0.

Morningside got its win, as the upset-minded Warriors fell 7-0.
The Mustangs got the early advantage as Midland entered the match shorthanded, giving Morningside the no. 3 doubles match with a win for Kailee Bailey and Stefany Simplicio. Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall quickly clinched the doubles point, 6-0, and Lara Heinrich and Helene Kreibich kept the Warriors out of the win column, 6-1.
In singles play, it was Simplicio alone that got a win via forfeit. Jensen followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win and Heinrich won 6-4, 6-1 to clinch the match and sole possession of the title.
Marshall added a 6-4, 6-0 win in the no. 3 position; Bailey won 6-0, 6-0 at no. 5; and Kreibich matched with a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own.
Morningside will take a bye in the first round of the GPAC tournament, played next week in Omaha as hosted by College of Saint Mary.
