Mustangs fall in Day 2 at ITA Cup, continue in consolation brackets

ROME, Ga. — The Morningside women's tennis duo of Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall will continue play at the ITA Cup on Saturday after falling in Friday's main-draw quarterfinals.
Jensen dropped her NAIA singles quarterfinal match to Shalimar Talbi of SCAD Atlanta, 6-4, 6-0. A day earlier, Jensen became the first tennis player in Great Plains Athletic Conference history to win a singles match at the national tournament.
Later Friday, Jensen and Marshall were defeated in the doubles quarterfinals by Talbi and Adrianna Kluska, 6-2, 6-4. The Mustang duo will compete in the North portion of the bracket at 4 p.m. Saturday.
In men's play, Alexis Diaz competed in the West Draw of singles play, falling 6-1, 6-2 to Huntington's Julian Tantera. He will continue in the South Draw at 10 a.m. Saturday against Southeastern's Javier Gallego. Diaz and teammate Marcos Menendez were also eliminated from the doubles bracket Thursday.
