Mustangs Advance to 4-0 With Win Over Missouri Baptist

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Morningside picked up the biggest win for the women's tennis team this fall, as the Mustangs defeated Missouri Baptist 5-2.
The day started out with a strong showing in doubles play as Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall opened the day with a 6-1 win. Kailee Bailey and Stefany Simplicio followed with a 6-1 victory of their own to clinch the doubles point, and Lara Heinrich and Helene Kreibich slugged out a 7-6 win with a 7-3 tiebreaker to complete the doubles sweep.
Jensen kept things moving in singles, winning 6-1, 6-2. Heinrich added a 7-5, 6-3 win to put Morningside on the cusp of securing the match, needing a win from just Bailey or Simplicio to secure the match.
Both Mustangs did their part, as Bailey won 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 and Simplicio won 7-5, 6-2.
Morningside hosts a triangular with Baker and Northwestern to wrap up team play for the fall, before sending Jensen and Marshall to the ITA Cup in Mount Berry, Ga. next week.
