Mustangs open team play with win over Luther

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Morningside Women's Tennis made its team-scoring debut as part of homecoming weekend, picking up a 5-2 win over Luther at the Mason Family Tennis Complex.

The Mustangs were quick to claim the doubles point as Helene Kreibich and Lara Heinrich and Stefany Simplicio and Bianca Seminario Pinheiro Costa picked up wins in the no. 2 and no. 3 spots, 6-2, 6-3.

Line Jensen followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win in no. 1 singles. Heinrich added a 6-0, 6-3 win at no. 4, and Kreibich won 6-0, 6-3 at no. 3 to guarantee a Mustang win. Simplicio added an insurance point for Morningside with a 6-0, 6-1 win at no. 5.

The Mustangs head to Pella, Iowa on Tuesday to play Central and Truman State.
