TEMPE, ARIZ. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its regional award recipients today, naming Line Jensen as the ITA Rookie of the Year and Alex Struck as the Wilson ITA Coach of the Year for the central region. The governing body also named Morningside to the no. 21 spot in its latest national rankings, which were released last week.
Jensen, a freshman from Humblebaek, Denmark, has accumulated a 25-4 singles and 15-5 doubles record on the season, largely playing in the no. 1 singles position and as part of the no. 1 doubles pairing.
Struck, in his third season at the helm of the Mustangs' program, has seen his team excel both as a whole and individually, with individual players and doubles pairings posting exceptional records and the team collecting the 2024 Great Plains Athletic Conference championships for both the season and postseason tournament.
Jensen and Struck are both eligible for the national level awards, which will be announced on May 17.
The Mustangs posted a 19-3 record in ITA-qualifying matches on the way to the no. 21 ranking, marking a new program best and the first time that the team has been ranked in the top 25.
Morningside will continue the historic 2024 campaign on March 14 at the 2024 Women's Tennis National Championship in Mobile, Ala., playing Westcliff at 2 p.m.
