Head coach Alex Struck's Mustangs men's and women's teams reached the nine-win mark with non-conference dual decisions at Mount Marty University. The men swept past the Lancers 7-0, with the women cruising 6-1.
Juniors Emily Clotfelter (Fairfield, Mt.) and Merel Kooij (Rockanje Zuid, Netherlands), and freshman Emma Dahlhoff (Vermillion, S.D.) picked up the 6-0, 6-0 outcomes for the women. Dahlhoff and Kooij took it another step with a 6-0 doubles triumph.
Freshman Eduard Salvana (Calella, Spain) was the men's 6-0, 6-0 victor. Mikhil Raja (Belvedere Harare, Zimbabwe) and Alex Castillo (Santiago, Chile), also first-year standouts, picked up a 6-0 doubles win.
Morningside wraps up a three-dual week hosting Doane University in Great Plains Athletic Conference action Saturday, April 9. The start time at Mason Family Tennis Complex is 11 a.m.
NOTES: Raja, winning in straight sets in singles action, moved to 11-3 and ran his win streak to seven … Dahlhoff also reached 11 season victories with her fifth successive decision … The men's program reached the nine-win mark for the first time since 2012.
