CRETE, Neb. – Morningside clinched the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season title for women's soccer with a 3-2 win this afternoon at Doane. A Concordia tie with Dordt guaranteed that the Mustangs would have sole possession of the honor.
Morningside tickled the twine of the Tigers' net first, as Keyera Harmon punched an unassisted goal past Doane's keeper just before the clock reached the 40 minute mark. The home team quickly responded, hitting the equalizer in the remaining minutes of the period.
The Mustangs emerged from the locker room on the attack, taking the lead back in the opening minutes of the second half as Tuva Hammarlund got a pass from Emma Feigl to go for a goal. Hammarlund repeated at the 79:20 mark on a ball from Mia Stoffel. Doane would score again in 35 seconds, but was unable to spoil Morningside's afternoon.
2025 marks the third time that the Mustangs have emerged as GPAC Champions and taken the no. 1 seed into the postseason tournament, with previous titles in 2007 and 2013.
Morningside will end the regular season on Wednesday evening at Dakota Wesleyan.
