Hellerforth's second multiple-goal outing of the year wound up a meteoric week's work. She tallied three scores, including a game-winner, to help guide head coach Tom Maxon's squad to an unbeaten span. Hellerforth, Torgner, and freshman Nathalie Larsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) rifled three shot tries, part of a 17-3 advantage.
Morningside, moving to 9-5-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the league, also received a combined shutout on the other end of Crane Youngworth Field. Junior Megan Messersmith (Lincoln, Neb.) and freshman Sedrena Phillips (Sioux City, Iowa) kept the Lancers at bay with one save between them.
The Mustangs, moving to sixth on the GPAC standings, look to continue their late-season leaderboard rise Wednesday, Oct. 27. They travel to the College of Saint Mary for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
