LA CROSSE, WIS. – Morningside University's youthful offensive resume continued its glowing reviews Thursday, Oct. 21.
Sophomore defender/forward Jil Hellerforth (Luedensheid, Germany) and freshman midfielder/forward Victoria Stausholm (Esbjerg, Germany) broke up a scoreless draw that had reached the 46th minute at Viterbo University's V-Hawks Soccer Field. Hellerforth's fourth goal of the season and second game-winner was coupled with Stausholm's fifth successful offensive strike of the year, tying for the Mustangs' squad lead, enabling head coach Tom Maxon's squad to earn a 2-0 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' intersectional victory.
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Finn (Tampa. Fla.) needed every bit of Mside's 12 total shot and seven shot on goal outing. Viterbo managed to out-shoot its guest 15-12, nine of which were on frame, but Finn brushed aside every attempt for nine saves, tying for her second-most in a match.
Morningside (8-5-1), ending a recent span of three losses in its previous four outings, stays on the road Saturday, Oct. 23. They move back into Great Plains Athletic Conference action with a 1 p.m. match at Mount Marty University in Yankton, S.D.
