Sam Storey, originally from Surrey, England, joined the Morningside Golf coaching staff in the fall of 2022 after graduating from Morningside in May of 2022.

Storey brings a wealth of knowledge to Morningside Golf after a sensational playing career. Storey finished his career with the most individual wins in school history, the two lowest single season scoring averages, the lowest four year career scoring average, and was named third team NAIA All American in 2022.

Coach Storey qualified for the 2022 United States Amateur Championship and reached the quarter-finals of 2023 United States Amateur Four Ball Championship with former Mustang, Corey Matthey. Coach Storey turned professional in May of 2024, and cashed checks on two different professional tours, finished fifth at the Iowa Open, and successfully cleared through first stage of Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying School in his first season of playing professionally. 

Coach Storey regained his Amateur Status in June of 2025 and found immediate success in the Amateur ranks. He won the 2025 Rivercade Amateur Championship with a tournament record -14 over 45 holes, and finished sixth at the 2025 Iowa Amateur Championship at Des Moines Golf and Country Club. Coach Storey is also the course record holder at our home course, Whispering Creek, with a 10 under par 62.
