Brown, Zuniga win 3 matches at BCU tourney

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Morningside University women's golf team won two of three match play duals Monday and Tuesday at the Briar Cliff Match Play event at Green Valley Golf Course.
Morningside opened with a 5-0 sweep of Doane, with all five matches ending on or before the 15th hole. Alysen Sander led the way with a 6&5 victory, carding just two bogeys over 14 holes. Macy Button followed with a 5&3 win after building an early four-hole lead. Lucy Brown controlled her match throughout in a 6&4 victory, while Ivanna Becerra Diaz won 7&6. Kamryn Zuniga closed out the sweep with an 8&7 win, taking control with pars on Nos. 1 and 2 of the back nine.
The Mustangs followed with a 4-1 win over Dordt. Sander (8&6), Button (5&3), Becerra Diaz (4&2) and Zuniga (2 up) each picked up victories. Sander sparked her round with early birdies on Nos. 14 and 17, as the match began on the back nine. Button stayed steady with four pars over her opening six holes to help secure her win.
Baker claimed the final dual 3-2, despite wins from Brown and Zuniga, who each earned 2&1 victories.
