Mustang women win Siouxland Invite

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – It came down to the final hole, but Morningside claimed the Siouxland Fall Invite women's golf title in Orange City and Sioux Center Wednesday and Thursday respectively. 

The Mustangs led by a stroke over Central College after the first round Wednesday, and that one shot was the difference at the end of the invite. Morningside totaled 633 shots over two rounds, one ahead of Central and 17 ahead of third place Mount Marty.

Sofia Castelan placed third overall individually at 10-over for the week. The other four Mustangs on the winning team placed in the top 10 individually. Ainsley Hergert placed in a tie for fifth (15-over) and Lucy Brown, Alysen Sander, and Aidan Sander tied for seventh (17-over). Central had three players in the top 10 individually. 

Morningside competes at the Briar Cliff University Lila Frommelt Invite next Wednesday and Thursday at Two Rivers in North Sioux City, S.D.
