Mustangs Have Strong Showing at National Championships
LANSING, Mich. – Morningside Women’s Bowling made it’s presence known as it competed at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women’s Bowling National Championship this week, winning a pair of matches in bracket play before bowing out of the tournament.

The Mustangs entered tournament play as the no. 10 seed, matching up in the first round against no. 7 seeded Ottawa. Morningside previously defeated Ottawa in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Bowling Championship match to punch its ticket to NAIA nationals, and emerged victorious in the teams' second head-to-head meeting, 2-0.
Morningside advanced to face Pikeville in the double-elimination bracket, falling to the no. 2 seed, 2-0, to close out day one of play.
Day two of play pitted the Mustangs against no. 6 Lawrence Tech this morning. Morningside advanced over the Blue Devils, 4-3, to set up an NAIA nationals rematch with Ottawa.
The Braves were finally able to get the best of Morningside when it counted most, as the fellow KCAC qualifier eliminated the Mustangs, 4-3, and proceeded to match up with Pikeville. U Pike's Bears would beat Ottawa, and will play in Saturday's national championship against the winner of Mount Mercy and SCAD Savannah.
Morningside ends the season with its second-consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearance and second-consecutive KCAC Championship title.
