A group of six student-athletes received academic accolades from the National Bowling Coaches Association to help wind up a successful 2021-22 campaign.
Freshman Dylan Hamil (Rockford, Ill.) and junior Brett McEachern (Las Vegas, Nev.) were the men's team selections. The women were represented by sophomore Carissa Johnson (Hartford, S.D.), freshman Rachel Spier (Sioux Falls, S.D.), freshman Samantha Scheifen (Le Mars, Iowa), and senior Laura Rix (Sioux Rapids, Iowa).
Head coach Steve Gonshorowski's programs concluded their campaigns at the United States Bowling Congress sectionals in Dallas, Texas, in March. The women turned in a 13th-place mark with the men competing in the individual portion.
"It was another strong year," Gonshorowski noted. "The sectional tournament is always very deep competition-wise including four NCAA Division I schools that were part of their top 10 and number one Wichita State University. I am very proud of each person on both rosters. I would also like to salute Laura Rix, our lone women's senior. She bowled on a limited basis but ended up being a real catalyst. She never missed a practice and was upbeat all season - a true leader who will be missed."
