Morningside wraps up first semester slate

LAS VEGAS, NEV. – A quartet of Morningside University individuals played themselves into the final top 100 at the Collegiate Shoot-Out Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 20 and 21.
Head coach Steve Gonshorowski's men's and women's teams, completing a rugged four days of Tier I competition on South Point Bowling Center lanes, were paced by sophomore Reece Hartmann (Sioux Falls, S.D.) on the men's side. He rolled a six-game average of199.5 to end up 55th individually, as the Mustangs turned in a 5684 to place 23rd in the 42-school field.
Mside's women registered a 4877, which put them 24th out of 32 teams over the two-day event. Freshman Rachel Spier (Sioux Falls, S.D.) topped the individual scores with a 174.17 average for 65th. Junior Lexis Schroeder (LeMars, Iowa) (167 average – 76th) and sophomore Carissa Johnson (Hartford, S.D.) (157.5 average – 90th) rounded out the team's best three.
The Mustangs break from competition until January 16-17, when they are among the field for the Midwest Collegiate Classic in Addison, Ill.
