Mustangs open Vegas stay
LAS VEGAS, NEV. - Battling some of the best collegiate bowling offers, Morningside University’s men’s and women’s teams finished among the top 35 of the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 18 and 19.
LAS VEGAS, NEV. - Battling some of the best collegiate bowling offers, Morningside University's men's and women's teams finished among the top 35 of the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 18 and 19.
The Mustangs' women's team spotlighted the two-day event at South Point Bowling Center. Their 8111 over nine Baker games slotted them 12th among a 31-team field. Head coach Steve Gonshorowski's squad was on the cusp of advancing into bracket play, trailing eighth-seeded Saint Xavier University of Illinois by less than 85 pins at qualification completion.
Three individuals rose to the top during Mside's efforts. Junior Kaitlin Hofmeister (South Sioux City, Neb.) rocketed into the first 10 with an 1810, good for seventh. Fellow Class of 2023 member Lexie Schroeder (LeMars, Iowa) added her name to the best 25, placing 22nd (1696). Freshman Rachel Spier (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was in the top 40, too, with a 1625 to wind up 36th.
Morningside's men compiled a 7980 in qualification action. Sophomore Reece Hartmann (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was the top finisher, as he took 30th (1810).
Mside continues its Las Vegas competition Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 20 and 21, at the Collegiate Shoot-Out.
