Hall, Peterson record double-doubles in emphatic win

FOREST CITY, Iowa — The Morningside women's basketball team jumped out to a 14-2 lead on Wednesday night, and that allowed the Mustangs to defeat Waldorf, 86-50.
During that run, Lily Vollertsen scored six points, while Clancy Brown and Jaeden Webb hit 3-pointers. Twelve different Mustangs (12-10, 7-9 GPAC) scored in the win, and all 15 players who made the trip played at least three minutes.
Morningside's defense held the Warriors to 18 points in the first half, and held them to single digits for the first 12 minutes of the contest.
Offensively, the Mustangs scored 49 first-half points. Dani Peterson scored nine of those for the Mustangs. In the first quarter, the Mustangs shot 52 percent, then 40 percent in the second.
Morningside then scored 19 points during the third quarter, where Kinsey Hall scored nine of her team-high 18 points. Hall scored all nine of those points in the final eight minutes, and five consecutively.
Eight different Mustangs had scoring plays during the fourth quarter, including three points apiece from Vollertsen and freshman Jaelyn Marienau.
Peterson ended up with 15 points, while Vollertsen had 13. Both Hall and Peterson collected 11 rebounds. Parker Christiansen had four assists.
