SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Ninth-ranked Concordia stumped the Morningside women's basketball team on Wednesday, defeating the Mustangs 72-49.
Concordia led for the entire game, and limited the Mustangs (10-6, 5-5 GPAC) to 32 percent shooting. Three Mustangs — Lily Vollertsen, Clancy Brown, and Sam Ehlers — each scored a team-high 10 points.
Morningside's defense forced 24 turnovers, including seven during the third quarter.
"The last two games, we've played good enough defense to win," said Morningside coach Jamie Sale. "When you can't score, it's hard to win. We've had two games in a row where we've turned it over way too much, and that just has to get better."
Ehlers led the Mustangs with seven rebounds, while Jaeden Webb totaled a team-high four assists.
Morningside next faces Hastings on the road at 2 p.m. Saturday. Its next home game is Saturday, Jan. 17, against College of Saint Mary.
