CHICKASHA, Okla. — The Morningside softball team on Wednesday learned its assignment in the NAIA Opening Round.
Morningside — which earned an automatic bid by being the runner-up in the Great Plains Athletic Conference — received a No. 4 seed in the pod hosted by University of Sciences & Arts of Oklahoma.
The Mustangs (30-18) will play Friends (Kan.) at noon Monday to kick off their 16th appearance in the national tournament. Of the five teams in the Chickasha pod, Morningside has the most NAIA Tournament appearances.
The other teams in the USAO pod are LSU-Alexandria and College of Idaho.
Games will be played on Monday, and if there is a win-or-go home championship game, that'll be held on Thursday.
