Schuster drives in 3 runs on spring break finale
GULF SHORES, Ala. — Paige Schuster drove in three runs Sunday during the final day of play at the Gulf Shores Invitational.

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Paige Schuster drove in three runs Sunday during the final day of play at the Gulf Shores Invitational.
The Mustangs, however, dropped both games — a 5-2 decision to Southeastern and a close 6-5 contest against Bethel (Tenn.).
In the opener, Amber Dougherty delivered a two-run scoring play, reaching on a fielder's choice that allowed Lainie Keller and Ashlyn Caniglia to score.
Dougherty, Lillian Harris and Keller each recorded a hit for the Mustangs in Game 1.
In Game 2, Morningside scored once in the fourth and fifth innings before rallying with three runs in the seventh. Mackenzi Harrel hit a solo home run in the fourth, while Schuster drove in a run with a single in the fifth.
Schuster followed with a two-run single in the seventh that tied the game at 4-4. Harris then gave the Mustangs the lead with an RBI single later in the inning. Bethel responded with two runs in the bottom half to secure the win.
Bralen Biddlecome added two hits in the game against Bethel.
The Mustangs will now enter Great Plains Athletic Conference play with their first league doubleheader at home. Morningside will host Briar Cliff on Wednesday, March 18, at 3 p.m. at Jensen Softball Complex.
