Maxell's 5 RBIs propel Mustangs over Panthers
WICHITA, Kan. — Morningside softball freshman Addyson Maxell drove in five RBIs Sunday in a 9-1 win over York. The victory came during the Friends Tournament.
WICHITA, Kan. — Morningside softball freshman Addyson Maxell drove in five RBIs Sunday in a 9-1 win over York. The victory came during the Friends Tournament.
Morningside scored during the first two innings. During the first, Ellie Gengler scored Kennedy Wineland with an RBI groundout.
In the second, Addyson Maxell made it a 2-0 game with a sacrifice fly. Jenna Skradski scored on the play.
Maxell started the late scoring spree with a two-run double, then she later touched home plate when Jalyn Noelle reached on an error. Noelle was credited with an RBI. When Noelle stole second base, Wineland stole home and scored.
In the seventh inning, Maxell had a two-run RBI groundout that scored Adeline Fliege and Jenna Skradski. Paige Schuster rounded out the scoring with an RBI double.
The Mustangs hit six doubles in the win, including two by Jenna Skradski and Schuster.
Fliege earned the win, allowing just one earned run on five hits. She collected eight strikeouts and didn't surrender a walk. Fliege needed 75 pitches, and threw 59 strikes.
