Hicks' season-best time leads Mustangs at BCU Invite

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. — The Morningside men's cross country team turned in a balanced performance Saturday morning at the Briar Cliff Invitational, held at Adams Homestead Nature Preserve.
Senior RC Hicks led the Mustangs with a season-best time of 27 minutes, 35 seconds on the 8,000-meter course, finishing 52nd overall. Junior Eein McKinley (27:37) and senior Casey Kruger (27:37) were close behind in 53rd and 55th, respectively, helping form a tight front pack for Morningside.
Sophomore Braden Sonksen clocked a personal-best 28:15 for 74th, knocking more than two minutes off his time at last year's event. Senior Parker Halder rounded out the scoring with a 28:23 in 78th. Senior Austin Ramold (28:43) and senior Mason Welker (29:17) added key depth.
Freshman Brody Rouse (29:52), senior Jose Lopez (30:46), and freshmen Kael Hamann (31:28) and Kyle McDonald (33:57) also competed as the Mustangs finished seventh overall with 220 points.
