Jerabek leads Mustangs at national tourney

PARK CITY, Kan. — The Morningside University men's wrestling team sent four athletes to the NAIA National Championships on Thursday and Friday.
Senior Jakob Jerabek had the highest placing for the Mustangs, falling in the fourth round of the 285-pound consolation round. Jerabek — seeded ninth — won his first match on Thursday with a 6-0 decision over Missouri Valley's Randy Gonzalez.
After losing in the winner's bracket, Jerabek won back-to-back matches in the consolation round, beating Siena Heights' Aidan Mozden 2-0, then pinned Arizona Christian's Kaiden Cisneros in 3 minutes, 47 seconds. Third-ranked Antonio Garcia defeated Jerabek 9-1.
Jerabek ends his season at 18-4.
In other Mustang action, Caden Eggleston (22-11) lost both his matches at 157. Blaine Christo (165) and Alex VanDyke (174) also had the same misfortune in their brackets. Christo turned in a record of 19-12, while VanDyke was 14-9 in 2024-25.
