Morningside faces strong competition at Missouri Valley

MARSHALL, Mo. – Jakob Jerabek placed second in his weight class to lead the Mustangs at the Missouri Valley Invite Friday and Saturday in Marshall, Missouri.
Jerabek rattled off wins by way of fall (2:45), decision (1-0), tech fall (15-0), and fall (4:08) to make the championship match before losing by decision to place second.
Two other Mustangs made the quarterfinals. Taylor Vasquez picked up wins by fall (4:19), tech fall (17-1) and decision (11-8) to make the quarters at 141. Vasquez lost his next two matches by decision. Zander Ernst also made the quarterfinals, earning wins by decision 8-2 and 4-1. Ernst also lost his next two matches.
Brock Bolling, also wrestling at 141, lost his first match, but picked up wins by fall (5:22) and decision (10-8) to go 2-2 on the weekend. Noah Styskal earned a 4-0 decision in his first match of the weekend. He also picked up a win by major decision 13-5 to go 2-2 on the weekend.
Caleb Connor wrestled at 184 and went 2-2 on the weekend. After losing his first match, Connor won by fall in 3:26 and major decision 12-1.
The Mustangs are at Dakota Wesleyan for a dual Wednesday night in Mitchell.
