Mustangs suffer first home loss
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs collected their first home loss of the 2023 men’s volleyball season tonight, falling to Kansas Wesleyan in straight sets. Morningside’s first loss in Allee came 25-22, 25-23, and 31-29.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs collected their first home loss of the 2023 men's volleyball season tonight, falling to Kansas Wesleyan in straight sets. Morningside's first loss in Allee came 25-22, 25-23, and 31-29.
As a team, the Mustangs totaled 42 kills, 40 assists, and 28 digs, collecting six blocks in the match.
Natan Alves led Morningside's attack, with a team-high 17 kills. Kahakai Kahoiwai followed with 12, and Dylan Hamil and Erik Krenz each had six. Krenz led the team's attackers in efficiency, hitting .455, while Kahoiwai and Alves followed at .296 and .290, respectively. Jacob DePauw had one kill in two attempts, dishing 36 assists in the match.
Owen Anderson anchored the Mustang defense, collecting 10 digs. DePauw was next in line with seven.
Tharen Cox had five blocks in the match, leading the home team. Alves was next with two, and Hamil, Krenz, and DePauw each had one.
The Mustangs turn around and host a triangular tomorrow featuring Culver-Stockton and Central Christian tomorrow, with action starting at 1 p.m.
