Kruger, McKinley claim silvers at Grand View

DES MOINES — Multiple Morningside men's track and field entries earned Top 7 status Friday at the Grand View Viking Classic at Duke Williams Stadium.

The Mustangs brought home three silver medals. Casey Kruger was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11 minutes flat, while Eein McKinley also placed second in the 5,000-meter race in 15:56.92. In the 1,600-meter relay, the quartet of Braden Sonksen, Kael Hamann, RC Hicks, and Parker Halder ran the second-fastest time at 3:42.99.

Mason Welker placed third in the steeplechase with 11:07.86, while Austin Ramold was fourth in 11:14.12.

Finishing behind McKinley in the 5K was Hicks in third (16:08.70), and Halder fourth (16:14.35).

Alex Klarenbeek was seventh in the javelin throw at 111 feet, 11 inches. Sonksen also placed seventh with a 2-minute-flat time in the 800.
