Two event wins, school record, lead Mustangs at DWU Alumni Meet

Morningside placed sixth out of nine teams with 34 points. Dordt took the team title with 117 points and two of the teams sitting ahead of Morningside were non-GPAC teams.
Kadyn Cline earned Morningside's first win of the day in the 600-meters. Cline ran 1:23.43 for the title.
Blake Brown tied for the quickest time in the prelims of the 60, running 7.03 seconds. Leighton Olesen missed the final by .01 seconds, running 7.12 for ninth. Brown followed that up by setting the school record in the event in the finals, running 6.93 seconds. Jack Kling added an eighth place finish in the 200 (23.21).
Two Mustangs placed inside the top 10 in the mile. Garrett Hanson took second in a time of 4:30.26 and RC Hicks ninth in 4:42.13. Casey Kruger added a top 10 finish in the 800, running 2:04.46 for ninth. Parker Halder placed eighth in the 3,000, running 9:24.54.
In the final event of the day, Cline, Kling, Olesen, and Kruger ran 3:29.13 for third place in the 4x400-meter relay.
Next weekend is the final competition before the GPAC meet, and it is in the same building as the conference competition. The Mustangs head to Yankton for the Mount Marty Last Chance Meet Friday.
