SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Morningside placed multiple student-athletes on the 2026 Great Plains Athletic Conference Men's Tennis All-Conference Team, as announced by the league office. Highlighting the honors, Marcos Menendez Hervella was named GPAC Player of the Year.
Menendez, a sophomore from Pozuelo de Alarcón, Spain, earned All-GPAC honors at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles alongside Alexis Diaz, anchoring the Mustangs at the top of the lineup. Diaz also received recognition at No. 2 singles after a strong season in both singles and doubles play.
In singles, Menendez faced tough competition early, then used it to win 14 of 16 matches since Feb. 14. He and Diaz have won five consecutive doubles matches en route to the GPAC title last weekend in Omaha.
Morningside was represented throughout the singles lineup, with Mathys Arnold (No. 3), Jesse Gerth (No. 4), Santiago Minetti (No. 5), and Gabriel Whiston (No. 6) each earning All-Conference honors in their respective positions. Arnold went 18-2 in the spring, while Gerth hasn't lost in singles action since March 1.
Minetti and Whiston enter the national tournament on May 12 against Bethel (Kan.) with multiple-match win streaks.
In doubles play, Menendez and Diaz were recognized at No. 1 doubles, while Minetti and Whiston earned honors at No. 2. Arnold and Gerth rounded out the selections at No. 3 doubles.
Morningside, which captured the GPAC regular season championship, placed representatives in every singles and doubles position on the All-Conference team following a dominant conference campaign.
