All eyes turned to the no. 5 match at that point, where Gabriel Whiston had won the opening set 6-4, but fell behind 5-7 in set two to force a super tiebreaker with the match on the line. The freshman stayed poised, fighting for a 10-8 victory to win both his singles match and the team competition.
The Mustangs kept the ball rolling in the afternoon at Grand View, winning all three doubles matches as Arnold and Derek Buikema won 6-1, Menendez Hervella and Diaz won 6-3, and Minetti and Whiston won the final doubles pairing 7-5.
Menendez Hervella continued the streak in singles play, opening up a 4-1 lead before his match was retired. Buikema followed in the no. 4 position, winning the first set 6-3 before his match was retired. Arnold guaranteed the match would go Morningside's way with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
