Singles sweep leads to Mustang stampede of Missouri Valley
MARSHALL, Mo. – The Mustang Men’s Tennis team skipped out on Taste of Morningside early last night to hit the road and prepare for its team debut at Missouri Valley today. The early morning match proved to be a favorable move, as the Mustangs stampeded through the Valley, winning 7-0.
MARSHALL, Mo. – The Mustang Men's Tennis team skipped out on Taste of Morningside early last night to hit the road and prepare for its team debut at Missouri Valley today. The early morning match proved to be a favorable move, as the Mustangs stampeded through the Valley, winning 7-0.
Mathys Arnold and Jesse Gerth got the ball bouncing Morningside's way with a 6-0 win in the no. 2 doubles spot. Santiago Minetti and Gabriel Whiston locked down the doubles point with a 6-4 victory in the no. 3 spot.
Marcos Menendez Hervella was first in the books as singles play began, winning 6-2, 6-2. Minetti followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win, and Arnold got the win at no. 3, 6-0, 6-2.
Whiston won 6-1, 6-0; Gerth added a 6-3, 6-4 win; and Alexis Diaz completed the singles sweep 4-6, 6-2, 10-5.
The Mustangs are back on their home courts on Friday, Oct 10, playing Missouri Baptist at 2 p.m.
