Mustangs move beyond 20 win milestone with wins over Coe, Luther
CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – Morningside continued to venture into uncharted territory as it added two wins to its season total today, defeating Coe, 5-2, and Luther, 6-1. The Mustangs pushed program record for wins in a season to 21, with the regular season finale on the horizon.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – Morningside continued to venture into uncharted territory as it added two wins to its season total today, defeating Coe, 5-2, and Luther, 6-1. The Mustangs pushed program record for wins in a season to 21, with the regular season finale on the horizon.
The opening half of the day began as all but three of the Mustangs wins this season have, as Morningside secured the doubles point. Marcos Menendez Hervella and Alexis Diaz were the first to claim victory, winning 6-4. Mark Trenkle and Santiago Minetti followed with a 6-3 win, and Mathys Arnold and Jesse Gerth won 6-4.
Arnold went to work in singles play, winning 6-0, 6-2. Trenkle followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win; and Minetti clinched the win 6-1, 4-5, 6-2. Diaz fell behind in his match with a 6-7 loss on a 4-7 tie breaker before bouncing back 7-5 and 10-3 to conclude the match.
The Mustangs turned around to play Luther on Coe's courts, starting with a 6-3 win for Menendez Hervella and Diaz and a 6-4 win for Arnold and Gerth to secure the doubles point.
Menendez Hervella was first to finish singles play, winning 6-2, 6-2. Arnold followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win and Diaz clinched the match 6-1, 6-3.
Minetti added a 6-3, 7-6 win with a 7-4 tiebreaker and Trenkle won 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 10-4 to wrap up the match.
Morningside ends its regular season on Wednesday at Augustana, competing at 4 p.m.
