Men's tennis blanks Mount Marty in non-conference play

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NEB. – Morningside kept Mount Marty off the scoreboard in non-conference play today, sweeping the Lancers in a 7-0 win.
The Mustangs started the day with wins from Mark Trenkle and Gustav Sjoberg (6-2) and Winyou Asavaruangchai and Abhishek Mohapatra (6-1) to secure the doubles point. Santiago Minetti and Skander Ben Abdallah added a 6-2 win for good measure.
Trenkle picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win as the teams moved to singles. Minetti followed 6-2, 6-1, and Ben Abdallah locked down the win 6-2, 6-3.
Sjoberg continued the streak, winning 6-1, 6-1. Joao Pedro Pierry Izoldi Costa added a 6-3, 6-2 win, and Mikhil Raja completed the sweep, winning 6-2 and 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreak.
The Mustangs begin their conference season on Friday, playing Concordia at noon at the Mason Family Tennis Complex, weather permitting.
