HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Four straight-set singles wins enabled Morningside University to overcome National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Lake Forest College Friday, March 11.
Head coach Alex Struck's Mustangs, improving to 6-2, got triumphs from freshmen Mikhil Raja (Belvedere Harare, Zimbabwe), Eduard Salvana (Calella, Spain), Alex Castillo (Santiago, Chile), and Danny O'Brien (Longmont, Colo.) from numbers three through six. Raja, Salvana, and Castillo took 6-1, 6-1 wins to help close out the 6-1 final.
Morningside's first two team points occurred in doubles. Junior Jaime Maza Martin (Madrid, Spain) joined Salvana to win 8-5 at number one. Raja and Castillo were 8-3 victors at number two.
Mside returns home and begins 2022 Great Plains Athletic Conference action Friday, March 18. Mount Marty University visits Sioux City for a 3 p.m. women's and 6 p.m. men's duals.
