The Cougars hung on for 6-4 wins at the number one and three slots to lock up the pivotal digit. From that point, Morningside University did their level best to battle back, pushing singles sets 7-5 finals twice and a 7-6 superbreak outcome but fell 7-0 to open their 2022 Spring Break tour. Newcomers Mikhil Raja (Belvedere Harare, Zimbabwe), Eduard Salavana (Calella, Spain), and Alexander Castillo (Santiago, Chile) made the comeback attempts in singles action. Salvana teamed up with junior Jaime Maza Martin (Madrid, Spain) to take number one doubles to 6-4, as did the duo of sophomore Winyou Asavaruangchai (Udoni Thai, Thailand) and senior Gabe DeLeo (Corvallis, Mt.) at number three.
Morningside (4-1) continues its trip with a dual against Brevard College of North Carolina Tuesday, March 8.
