Mustangs Wrap Up Midland Dual with 400-Yard Freestyle Relay Win
FREMONT, Neb. — The Morningside men’s swim team turned in several strong performances, but fell to Midland, 133–69, on Saturday at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center. Midland controlled the early events, but the Mustangs closed the meet with a standout win in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Morningside's relay of John Spicer, Alessandro Zoccolan, Pedro Fernandes, and Santiago Vilches edged Midland by 0.15 seconds, touching in 3:13.57, for one of the day's closest races. Zoccolan also delivered the Mustangs' top individual finish, winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:10.63.
Vilches added a runner-up swim in the 200 freestyle (1:46.88), while Spicer followed in third. In the sprint events, Jack LaRue led Morningside in the 100 free with a third-place finish in 49.29.
Morningside is back in action next week, as the Mustangs wrap up their November schedule at Minnesota Morris on Nov. 22.
