Records fall at fast Pioneer Classic

John Spicer was the fastest Mustang in the pool, taking first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.81 and second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:41.60. Spicer bested the existing meet record and Morningside's program records in both races, and his clocking in the 200 was just .07 seconds out of first place. He also placed third in the 50-yard freestyle, missing the top spot by a quarter of a second.
Jake Bolda collected some hardware of his own as he took second in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:56.89, third in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:19.97, and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:51.35. Walker Goebel added a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:02.53 and Justin Bay took third in the 100-yard butterfly in 50.94 seconds and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in 51.98.
Like the women, Morningside's men also saw success in relay events, taking second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Spicer, Jack La Rue, Cael Jensen, Bay in 1:26.03), 800-yard freestyle relay (Spicer, Alejandro Plaza, Bolda, Goebel in 7:17.02), 400-yard medley relay (Bay, Caden Morton, Goebel, Spicer in 3:31.29), 200-yard medley relay (Bay, Morton, Goebel, Spicer in 1:37.61), and 400-yard freestyle relay (La Rue, Bay, Goebel, Spicer in 3:10.82).
