Morningside places second at GPAC Championship
BEATRICE, Neb. – The Morningside men’s golf team battled to the final hole at the GPAC Championship in Beatrice, Nebraska Monday and Tuesday, but ultimately came up two shots short of the team title.
BEATRICE, Neb. – The Morningside men's golf team battled to the final hole at the GPAC Championship in Beatrice, Nebraska Monday and Tuesday, but ultimately came up two shots short of the team title.
After a first round score of 302 put Morningside in fourth place, but the Mustangs hit a 294 in the second round to be in second place heading into Tuesday. Jamestown was the leader after day one, but Northwestern replaced the Jimmies atop the leaderboard by the end of the day Tuesday.
Morningside finished at a 38-over par 902 for the tournament. Northwestern won the team title at 36-over, and Doane came in third at 44-over.
The top individual finisher for the Mustangs was Braden Bernaldo, who tied for fourth at 5-over during the 54-hole tournament. Pablo Colin took seventh at 8-over and Philip Mangset tied for ninth at 10-over. Edgar Eriksson tied for 21st at 17-over and Brandon Gratton tied for 42nd at 23-over.
