Under par final round seals win at Siouxland Fall Invite
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – After being 4-over as a team and holding an 11 shot lead on the field Tuesday at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, the Mustangs moved over to Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City for the final round Wednesday.
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – After being 4-over as a team and holding an 11 shot lead on the field Tuesday at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, the Mustangs moved over to Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City for the final round Wednesday.
Led by a 4-under 67 from Edgar Eriksson and a 1-under 70 from Will Topolski, the Mustangs finished even par for the three round tournament and won the team title by 16 strokes. The Morningside "White" team took sixth place out of 17 teams.
Individually, Braden Bernaldo placed second at 3-under (207 total shots) for the tournament. Bernaldo's 67 in the second round helped vault the Mustangs into the lead after the first day.
Topolski finished sixth individually at 1-over for the tournament. Pablo Colin tied for 16th at 6-over. Eriksson placed 20th at 7-over and Philip Mangset 30th at 9-over.
For the second team, James Evans and Jackson Mann tied for 11th at 5-over, Mason Burger tied for 16th with Colin at 6-over.
The Morningside men's golf team is 3-for-3 in tournament victories this fall, winning the Mount Marty Fall Invite, the Blue River Classic, and now the Siouxland Fall Invite.
Next week, the Mustangs are in Le Mars for the Northwest Iowa National Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Willow Creek Golf Club.
