Mustangs control podium at season-opener
YANKTON, S.D. – Coach Nick Wanderscheid looked deeper in his team ranks as he assembled his roster for this week’s Mount Marty Men’s Golf Invitational. The move paid off as the Mustangs took the top spot as a team and Brandon Gratton was the event medalist.
YANKTON, S.D. – Coach Nick Wanderscheid looked deeper in his team ranks as he assembled his roster for this week's Mount Marty Men's Golf Invitational. The move paid off as the Mustangs took the top spot as a team and Brandon Gratton was the event medalist.
"I used this week to get some of our younger guys a little more experience," offered head coach Nick Wanderscheid.
Wanderscheid's Mustangs shot a two-day total of 590, carding a 294 yesterday at Fox Run Golf Course before adding a 296 today at Vermillion's The Bluffs.
With Gratton taking the top spot on the podium, shooting a 144, Morningside took control of the podium as Mason Burger was a shot behind at 145 and Edgar Eriksson carding a 147. Jackson Mann finished no. 11 for the Mustangs with a 154, and Jacob Taweel placed no. 28 with a 163.
Morningside is back on the course September 5 and 6, competing in Doane and Concordia's shared Blue River Classic at Highlands Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb.
