Playing against some of the NAIA's top programs on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Magnolia Oaks course, head coach Nick Wanderscheid's squad responded after a difficult Monday opening 18 with a 297 to close out day one which was one of the field's four-lowest second round aggregates. Tuesday's 304 concluded the two-day southern stay with the Mustangs placing less than 12 strokes out of the first six.
Individually, the senior duo of Jonny Douglas (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) and Xan Milligan (Hexham, England) joined junior Jackson Sitzmann (Sioux City, Iowa) in the best 40. Douglas' final round 73 allowed him to climb nine spots to a tie for 18th (227), while Milligan's 75 moved him from 41st to 36th (232). Sitzmann closed out the tourney in 31st (231).
Mside returns to competition Tuesday and Wednesday, March 8 and 9, for the Point University (Georgia) Skyhawks Invitational.
