They added one more memory before walking off. The senior duo helped No. 21 Morningside close the regular season with an 87-67 win over Briar Cliff, sending the Mustangs into postseason play with momentum.
"I was proud of how our guys executed tonight, and they were locked in from the jump," head coach Trent Miller said. "It was fun to see. We have a ton of respect for Briar Cliff, but I thought our guys made each catch difficult."
Brocaille and Dreckman combined for 35 points, with Brocaille pouring in 21 on five 3-pointers. The pair scored the game's first seven points as Morningside built a lead that grew to as many as 27.
"Caleb and I came to Morningside in 2022, and it's been a special ride ever since," Brocaille said. "We've grown a lot physically and mentally. It's truly been a blessing."
Morningside (21-6, 18-2 GPAC) shot 65 percent in the first half and hit eight 3-pointers to take a 14-point lead into the break. The Mustangs finished at 59 percent overall, the third time in the last four games they have shot better than 55 percent.
Alex Wilcoxson led the Mustangs with 26 points, knocking down six 3-pointers — three in each half — with his second-half makes pushing the lead out of reach. Fitzy Grant added 13 points off the bench, and Kaden Van Regenmorter grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Now the focus shifts. The Mustangs enter the GPAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Hastings at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Allee Gym.
"It starts with practice," Brocaille said. "We need great execution every day for the rest of the postseason."
