WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Morningside men's basketball team went toe-to-toe with No. 11 Keiser on Tuesday night, but a late push by the Seahawks handed the Mustangs an 86-81 loss in the finale of the Florida trip.
Morningside (9-5) shot the ball efficiently throughout the night, finishing 53 percent from the floor and knocking down 12 of 20 attempts from beyond the arc. The Mustangs built momentum early behind a sharp first half that featured 63 percent shooting and an 82 percent clip from 3-point range, trailing just 48-47 at halftime.
The game remained tight deep into the second half, with eight lead changes and neither team leading by more than nine points. Morningside briefly grabbed the lead midway through the half, but Keiser answered with timely baskets in the paint and second-chance opportunities to regain control.
Daniel Brocaille led the Mustangs with 17 points, hitting 5 of 7 shots from 3-point range. Caleb Dreckman added 13 points, while Alex Wilcoxson posted a well-rounded line of 13 points and 11 assists. Tyson Odvody chipped in 14 points off efficient shooting, and Kaden Van Regenmorter finished with 10 points. Morningside wrapped up the night with 20 assists on 29 made field goals.
Morningside went on a seven-game winning streak that included six in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.
