Mustangs voted second in GPAC preseason poll

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Fresh off a national tournament appearance in March, the Morningside men's basketball team was picked second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll released Thursday.
The Mustangs went 25-8 overall and 14-6 in GPAC play last season, capturing the conference tournament title with wins over Dakota Wesleyan, Dordt and Concordia. Morningside also defeated Hope International in the NAIA Opening Round before falling to Bethel in the Round of 32.
Morningside earned 89 points in the preseason poll, finishing behind only Northwestern. The Mustangs return two of their top scorers from last season — Daniel Brocaille (13.1 points per game) and Alex Wilcoxson (6.5 ppg).
The Mustangs open the season Oct. 25 at home against Mount Mercy. Their GPAC opener is Nov. 15 at Midland.
