Mustangs bring out the brooms against BCU
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside may have been the favorite coming into today’s men’s basketball game with Briar Cliff, but the Chargers, who have put up two 100-point totals in the last couple weeks, are hardly a team to take lightly, especially in a rivalry game. The Mustangs kept the Chargers’ offense at bay, though cruising to a 76-69 victory.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside may have been the favorite coming into today's men's basketball game with Briar Cliff, but the Chargers, who have put up two 100-point totals in the last couple weeks, are hardly a team to take lightly, especially in a rivalry game. The Mustangs kept the Chargers' offense at bay, though cruising to a 76-69 victory.
Morningside's win came on the strength of a 50-percent shooting rate and a 40-31 rebound advantage. The Mustangs committed just nine turnovers, while scoring 11 points off of 10 BCU bobbles.
Joey Skoff led the way offensively for the Mustangs, scoring 19 points. Ely Doble followed with 15, Jack Dotzler had 11, Trey Powers scored 10 points, and Will Pottebaum and Aidan Vanderloo each had nine. Skoff and Doble each dished four assists.
More than a quarter of Morningside's rebounds came from Doble, who recorded 14 boards, including 10 defensive rebounds, in the contest. Powers and Brendan Buckley each had eight rebounds.
Like Morningside's women's team, the men are quiet until Friday, when Jamestown comes to Allee Gym. The weekend series continues on Saturday, Feb. 11, when Hastings plays the role of visitor.
